Terms of Service

Hertzlingo is a German practice and exam platform for levels A1 through C1, available as a website, Android and Windows apps and a Telegram bot: multiple-choice questions, flashcards, a learning path, matches and chat with other users, Sprechen Partner video-call pairing, shadowing and dictation, Einbürgerungstest preparation, courses with teachers, and exams covering all four skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).

• •The information you provide when signing up must be accurate, and the email address must belong to you.
• •You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for any activity carried out through your account.
• •Each person is only permitted to have one account.
• •Your account may not be sold, rented, or transferred to another person.

Hertzlingo offers paid subscription plans (Eco, Pro and Elite). For its duration, a subscription unlocks extra features such as hints, official exams and teacher reviews — within the limits of that plan.

• •A subscription is only valid within Hertzlingo and cannot be converted into cash.
• •A subscription is personal and cannot be transferred to another account.
• •Plan prices and each plan's limits may change. A price change does not affect a subscription you have already paid for.
• •Creating duplicate or fake accounts to abuse free trials or special offers is considered fraud.

Premium subscriptions are purchased through the Zarinpal payment gateway. As soon as payment is confirmed, the subscription is activated on your account immediately and automatically — no manual approval is needed. Return and refund terms are explained on the refund policy page .

Human teachers review speaking (Sprechen) and writing (Schreiben) exams. The usual review period is 5 business days. Teacher feedback is an educational, expert opinion and is not considered an official grade.

The following is prohibited and can lead to account suspension or deletion:

• •Using a display name or profile photo that is offensive, obscene, or infringes on others' rights.
• •Insulting, harassing, or threatening other users or teachers.
• •Cheating in matches, manipulating scores, or exploiting bugs in the app.
• •Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to answer questions or create accounts.
• •Attempting to breach, disrupt, or place abnormal load on the service.
• •Copying, bulk-scraping, or republishing the site's educational content without written permission.
• •Recording, screenshotting or sharing a Sprechen Partner call or someone's private messages without their explicit consent, or using chat to spam or advertise.

The questions, texts, audio files, design, and code of Hertzlingo belong to Hertzlingo. Content you generate yourself (writing-exam text, speaking-exam audio, personal vocabulary) remains yours; you merely grant us permission to store it in order to provide the service and to show it to the reviewing teacher.

Clips and recordings you contribute to the shared shadowing/dictation library: you confirm you have the right to share them, and you allow us to store them and show them to other learners within the service.

We try to keep the service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The service may be temporarily taken offline for updates or maintenance. Sections, prices, and features may change or be removed.

If these rules are violated, we may restrict or delete the account. In cases of clear fraud (such as creating fake accounts to abuse free trials), any benefits obtained that way are voided and will not be refunded.

• •Users paying from outside Iran through Stripe can choose, at the moment of purchase, between a one-time payment and automatic monthly renewal.
• •By choosing automatic renewal, the same amount is charged to your card automatically every month and the subscription renews, with no need to confirm again each time.
• •Every time a monthly renewal succeeds, a confirmation email is sent to you.
• •You can cancel automatic renewal at any time from the shop page. Canceling stops the next month's renewal and charge, but does not refund the current period you already paid for — your access stays active until the end of that already-paid period.
• •The exact next-renewal date is always shown on the shop page, so you know how much time you have left to cancel.

• •The placement test sets your starting level. If your result is B2, for example, your level becomes B2 right away and is shown on your account and in the header.
• •After every 100 questions you answer (the 100th, 200th, 300th and so on), the system looks at all your correct answers and sets your level to the level where you have the most correct answers. If your level changes, you get a notification with the reason.
• •Example: the placement test puts you at B2. In your first 100 questions you mostly answer A1 questions correctly, so your level changes to A1 and you see the reason. Then you move on to B1 questions; at question 200, 300 and so on, once your total correct B1 answers exceed your correct A1 answers, your level moves to B1.
• •Learning path: all steps below the highest level you have ever reached (from the placement test or a later promotion) are unlocked, and the path opens at that level. If your level later drops, unlocked steps are never locked again. Example: if the test places you at A2 and your level later reaches B1, the path is unlocked up to B1.
• •Every user may retake the placement test once to update their level. For logged-in users the answers and result of both attempts are saved, and you can reopen the result and question review at any time.

• •The Android and Windows apps and the Telegram bot use the same account and these same terms.
• •Notifications and reminders (browser, app, Telegram, email) are optional and can be switched off at any time.
• •Sprechen Partner calls take place on Google Meet between you and another learner; we only create the link, and you are responsible for your own conduct in the call. The rules are shown before each pairing.
